Vigil for Pigs – George’s 1 Year Anniversary of Freedom
January 16, 2020 @ 8:30 am - 10:30 am
It’s hard to believe that we’re quickly approaching the one year anniversary of George’s rescue. George has lived in peace and comfort at Iowa Farm Sanctuary for the past year! ♥️
On a cold, snowy Iowa night, George was on a semi headed for a slaughterhouse. Before he met his final destination, he fell out of the back of the truck as it was cruising down the interstate near West Des Moines. With the help of our friends, we were able to remove him from the site, negotiate his surrender, and get him to the hospital that night for immediate care.
Sadly, two other pigs fell from the same semi that night. They experienced injuries from the fall (and possibly being struck by cars) and we weren’t permitted to rescue them. We’ll never forget those two beautiful souls. 💔
Please join us for a vigil at the slaughterhouse George likely was headed to on that fateful night. We’ll bear witness to pigs just like George arriving at the slaughterhouse and peacefully protest this injustice.
The bigger our numbers, the more of an impact we can make on our community and the world around us via social media. ✊
