Mission, Vision, and Our Why

Our Vision

An empathetic community free from oppression in all forms.

Our Mission

To connect and grow our community around veganism and anti-oppression.

Our Why

Why are we for the animals?

– All non-human animals are sentient beings. We recognize that non-human animals are deserving of respectful and compassionate treatment. We acknowledge their inherent right to live their lives without being exploited for our purposes.

Why are we for the environment?

– We want clean water, soil, and air. We understand climate change is happening and want to address it through our consumer choices. We believe animal agriculture, its inputs, and its outputs are contributing to the devastation of our planet.

Why are we for people?

– We support farmers; being from the heartland, we must. Farmers feed us every day and we look forward to a future where our food system is built on equity and sustainability. We want a future where no individual needs to earn an income taking the life of another or playing a role in that process.

– We believe eating a plant based diet is a healthy choice that can provide you with all the nourishment you need. Beyond nourishment, plant based diets provide the tools our bodies need to fight and prevent disease when compared to the Standard American Diet. Studies have shown a plant based diet can prevent and reverse certain lifestyle related diseases.

– We believe as a vegan community we should stand against oppression in all forms, against all beings. Ending the oppression of animals leads us to eschew participation in other forms of oppression such as racism, sexism, ageism, ableism, transphobia, and homophobia.
